Types of psoriasis

  1. Plaque psoriasis : It is the most common form of psoriasis. It causes dry, raised, red skin lesions (plaques) covered with silvery scales. The plaques ate itchy or painful . They can occur anywhere on your body.
  2. Guttate psoriasis : It is triggered by a bacterial infection such as streptococcal infection ,sore throat. Usually seen in children. The eruptions are  small, water-drop-shaped lesions on arms, trunk and  legs.
  3. Nail psoriasis : Finger nails and toe nails are affected, causing pitting, abnormal nail growth and discoloration. Nails affected by psoriasis might loosen and separate from the nail bed (onycholysis).
  4. Inverse psoriasis : This mainly affects the skin in the armpits, in the groin, under the breasts and around the genitals. Inverse psoriasis causes smooth patches of red, inflamed skin that worsen.
  5. Armpits, groins, areas under the breasts and genitals are affected.
  6. Fungal infections may trigger this type of psoriasis.
  7. Pustular psoriasis : This type of psoriasis can cause fever with chills. It causes pus filled blisters. The skin becomes red and tender.
  8. Psoriatic Arthrites : It is a condition where the joints are also affected along with psoriasis. Joints are stiff, painful and swollen

Management of psoriasis

Conventional mode of treatment consists of steroid based creams, salicylic acid ointment and retinoids which is synthetic form of Vitamin A

However they do have side effects.

Homeopathic approach in treating psoriasis
