Asthma Treatment

Asthma is s cause of concern for parents of children suffering from asthma. Children suffering from asthma have difficulty in breathing,  cough and wheezing.Children are unable to sleep at night due to cough.This may cause anxiety and lot of stress for children as well as parents.Children may miss their school due to repeated asthma attacks. Cause of asthma

The exact cause of asthma is not known. The airways become inflamed, swell and  they are filled with mucus.

  2. Respiratory tract infection : Viral or bacterial infections of respiratory tract may cause asthma attack. Sinusitis ,bronchitis and cold may cause asthma attack

  2.  Asthma can be triggered by any allergens which could be inhaled allergens or ingested allergens. Inhaled allergens can be dust, pollen in air,pet dander,chemical fumes. Ingested allergens could be anything the person is allergic to such as nuts, chocolates or certain non vegetarian food
  3. Some patients may experience asthma attack while doing aerobics or any work out
  4. Emotional stress ,shock or grief may cause asthma attack
  5. Extreme cold or weather changes may cause asthma attack

Signs and Symptoms

Asthma symptoms vary from person to person. Signs and symptoms of asthma

  1. Cough
  2. Shortness of breath.Patient may be unable to sleep due to cough.
  3. Pain in chest
  4. Whistling sound known as wheeze
  5. Difficulty in breathing, patient may experience a sense of tightness in chest.

Status asthamaticus

It is a severe attack of asthma which may lead to respiratory failure. It is extremely necessary to visit a nearby hospital  and get treated if you suffer from status asthamatics. Such attacks do not respond to inhalers . It is an emergency condition and the patient has to be hospitalized

Tips for management of asthma

  1. Have hot vegetable soups
  2. Have dinner early before 7pm
  3. Do not have rice for dinner
  4. Do gargling with warm water
  5. Know trigger factors for asthma and avoid them
