Alopecia Areata Treatment

 What is Alopecia Areata?

Alopecia Areata is a common autoimmune skin disease characterised by loss of hair from the scalp or from various other parts of the body in small patches, which may go unnoticed. However, the patches may gradually connect and become clearly noticeable. In majority of the cases the hair loss is not more than a few patches, although in a few cases it might be extreme. Sometimes it leads to a complete hair loss from the scalp and in some extreme cases from the whole body. This disease is not age or gender specific and hence can affect anyone. The disease may in some cases develop slowly, or recur periodically. It is not a contagious disease as well. In many cases the person suffering from disease also has a family member suffering from the same.

Causes

Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune disease. An autoimmune disease is one in which the body’s immune system mistakes healthy cells for foreign substances. Normally the immune system defends one’s body from various foreign substances such as bacteria and viruses. Hence in Alopecia areata the body mistakes the hair follicles for foreign substances and attacks them. The hair follicles gradually become smaller and stop producing hair, which results in a hair loss. A person’s genetic makeup combined with some other external factor tends to trigger this condition.

Symptoms

One of the most common and easily visible of all symptoms is:

Patchy hair loss: The problem often begins with one or more coin sized, round bald patches. Hair loss commonly occurs only from the scalp but in some cases it can occur from eyebrow, eyelashes, beard, or any other hair bearing sites.

Homeopathic approach

Homeopathy is very effective in treating alopecia. There are instances where a person may develop alopecia after a traumatic experience such as business loss, or illness of a near and dear one. If right medicine is given alopecia  can be treated with Homeopathy. Homeopathy gives importance to mind,  when mind is disturbed physical ailments follow. If parents have alopecia or hair disorders it is likely that the children may also suffer from hair disorders.

Homeopathy strengthens the immunity, corrects the imbalance in our system as alopecia is an auto immune disorder. The bald patches will not spread. If hair follicles are intact the person can regain all the lost hair. In certain conditions it is not possible but with Homeopathic treatment new bald patches will not occur. Homeopathic medicines are safe and do not have side effects.
